Since the enforcement of the new MARPOL 73/78, ANNEX VI, Regulation 18
requirements, as of May 19th 2005, it has come to our attention that
frequently the labels affixed on the sampling bottles are not properly
filled out. For example, the seals numbers are not listed as specified
or the bunkering port is not listed.

On May 19, 2005 Annex VI of MARPOL 73/78 regulations come into effect
for all ships. Annex VI contains several regulations aiming for the
prevention of Air Pollution from ships.
Regulation
18, in particular, focuses on the quality of the Fuel Oil used by
ships. While Fuel Oil quality has been a matter traditionally dealt
with between ship owners / ship managers / charterers and the Fuel
suppliers, under Annex VI of MARPOL 73/78 it becomes a statutory issue.
